Problem:
A point charge q1= - 4.3µC is located on the y-axis at y=0.18m, a charge q2=1.6µC is located at the origin, and a charge q3=3.7µC is located on the x-axis at x= -0.18m. Find the resultant force on the charge q1.

[1] Two point charges are located on the x-axis as follows: charge Q1 = +8x10-9C is at x = 0 cm and charge Q2 = -1x10-9C is at x = 1 cm. What is the net force in the x direction on a third charge, Q3 = +2x10-9C, placed at x = 2 cm ?

[4] In a hydrogen atom an electron circles a proton. Since the mass of the proton is much greater than the mass an electron, assume that the proton stays fixed in space and the electron rotates around it with radius 0.529x10-10 m. What is the velocity of the electron?

[5] Two point charges are located on the x-axis as follows: charge Q1 = +2x10-6C is at x = 0 m and charge Q2 = -1x10-6C is at x = 1 m. What is the net force in the
x- direction on a third charge, Q3 = -3x10-6C, placed at x = 2 m ?

[10] Three point charges lie along the y-axis.* A charge q1=-9mC is at y=6.0m, and a charge q2=-8mC is at y=-4.0m. Where must a third positive charge, q3, be placed such that the resultant force on it is zero?

[11] A point charge q1= -4.3mC is located on the y-axis at y=0.18m, a charge q2=1.6mC is located at the origin, and a charge q3=3.7mC is located on the x-axis at x= -0.18m. Find the resultant force on the charge q1.

[12] Two fixed charges, +1.0*10-6C and -3.0*106C, are 10cm apart. (a) Where may a third charge be located so that no force acts on it? (b) Is the equilibrium of this third charge stable or unstable?

[13] The nucleus of a carbon atom has 12 units of positive charges and the nucleus of a neon atom has 22 units of positive charges. Find the force between the two nuclei if they are 5x10-9 m apart.
